From a Distance
New York born and raised songwriters in love with the power of storytelling.
Hotel is the musical collaboration between AJ Estrada, Brandon Peterson and Jonathon Streker. With a history spent sharing the stage together throughout countless venues and DIY dungeons up the East Coast, they now reside in their respective states of New York, Tennessee and Massachusetts, working digitally to create new records.
Established in 2008 with the release of Old Dominion, the band has released four full length records, toured extensively, and are previous MTVu award winners. Everything from their music, videos, artwork and band merchandise has been self-produced out of a pure love of ‘making things’. Their latest full length album, Faraway Friends is slated for an April 28th, 2023 release.
“Melody is King” has been the groups guiding mantra, and north star. Although you’ll be sure to find elements of dynamic riffage, lush soundscapes and unique instrumentation sprinkled throughout, Hotel’s musical priorities remain in service to the song.
At the end of the day, Hotel have crafted a treasure trove of catchy melodies to uncover, bounce around in your head, and hopefully make you lean in to see what’s happening just beneath the surface.

Faraway Friends from the titular friends:
We’re incredibly fond of this record. Not only did it serve as a way for us to channel our passion into something exciting and tangible, but it was the catalyst for reviving our relationships from nearly 14 years ago, when we started the band.
Turns out, we had a lot to say after all this time away. Although it’s one of our larger releases, each song was crafted, cared for and evolved over time. While there are definitely catchy, sing-a-long singles throughout, this is ideally meant to be enjoyed as an album. It’s our most realized effort, and we intend for it to feel like completing a fantastic journey that you can’t wait to repeat.
Musically, we draw inspiration from our heroes of the 70's, 80's, 90's, while doing our best to pay homage, and keep things refreshing for all our sakes. Indie Rock and Pop, Folk, Soul, and Progressive elements are scattered throughout. At times, the music is uplifting but we love to lean into darker introspective lyrical themes and enjoy the contrast in that. Most of these songs can be played loud and carefree on a road trip…or almost analytically if one is inclined to take a minute and look under the hood.
We wanted to make a cohesive album in the era of singles, and I'm super proud to say that we achieved that goal. Our marketing push is now underway and we’ll be sharing the journey through our socials, including “band retrospectives”, making-of content, podcasts, contests and live performances.
